Jurassic World Dominion is now in cinemas and looks, most Jurassic World Dominion review rate it as an unattractive movie. It’s also not terrible, especially if you’re looking for an interstellar clash with Spider-Man. It’s been exciting to see Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum return to the franchise alongside the likes of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallace Howard.
Dinosaurs Live In The Real World Again
If you’ve seen the movie Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, you know that Jurassic World: Dominion exists in a new Jurassic where humans and dinosaurs must coexist.
This happened because Maisie Lockwood released several previously captured dinosaurs into the wild. Now, these dinosaurs have proliferated and spread across the globe, with great dispersal to Earth’s ecosystems. Here is a Jurassic World Dominion review after watching that movie.
Ross Bonaime, Collider
“Dominion” wants audiences to recall what they loved about the first film, but fails to exploit the joy or spectacle that made the series so outstanding when it debuted in 1993,” Bonaime wrote in My Jurassic World Dominion review for Collider.
‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ is a tired tagline, a legacy story that doesn’t seem to realize where its power comes from, and the pervasive stupidity that pervades every scene in the film,” he wrote.
Bonaime said the film tries to pay homage to fans of the “Jurassic Park” trilogy, but doesn’t give the Dern, Neill and Goldblum trio anything interesting to deal with.
Clarisse Loughrey, Independent
“Dominion” is the last in a trilogy that never really knows what it is doing,” Loughrey wrote in her Jurassic World Dominion review for the Independent. “It’s like watching a chef completely butcher a recipe, before expertly pouring the seasoning into the seasoning to try and fix it.”
Loughrey said there were “small ideas for better Jurassic movies that no one had the bold vision to commit to”.
She points to the “Jurassic World” villain played by Vincent D’Onofrio, who threatens to militarize the Velociraptors.
“Dinosaur with guns? Cool, they should have done it,” she wrote.
Stephanie Zacharek, Time
Zacharek wrote in her Jurassic World Dominion review for Time: “The goal of entertainment is not to bore you, but you never know when you watch ‘Jurassic World: Dominion,’ directed by Colin Trevorrow be a director.
She notes that the series starts off on a “promising sort of pattern” but quickly becomes “tired” after the first hour has passed.
“So many plots, so many characters, damn Chris Pratt that the dinosaurs ended up taking a back seat,” Zacharek wrote. “They are the underdogs in their own movies.”
One bright spot of the feature, says Zacharek, is the new characters Ramsay Cole, the goofy BioSyn genius played by Mamoudou Athie, and the “cool mercenary pilot” Watts.
Germain Lussier, Gizmodo
“‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ is being billed as ‘The Conclusion of the Jurassic Era’ and that will certainly be the case,” Lussier wrote in his Jurassic World Dominion review for Gizmodo.
Lussier said the film’s biggest sin was that it was “generally uninteresting and boring”.
Lussier praised the film’s visual effects, noting that “every second a dinosaur appears on screen, I believe it’s a dinosaur”. But he also said that wasn’t enough to save the movie.
“The first Jurassic Park worked because it was simple, straightforward, and smart,” he wrote.
“Now, five sequels, there hasn’t been a single movie that has achieved that miracle,” he added. “They are all too complicated or too similar. ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ is both of those things, as well as being a narrative cesspool, making it, without a doubt, the worst Jurassic movie to date. ”
