Nicholas Paul (born March 20, 1995) is a Canadian professional ice hockey left winger. He currently plays for Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League (NHL).
Nicholas Paul has dual Canadian and US citizenship because his father is Canadian and his mother is an American citizen.

When he was growing up, his father built a backyard for Paul and his brother Jesse to use to practice. This has helped him practice and nurture his passion.

While at Mississauga, Paul played junior middleweight hockey for the Mississauga Chargers of the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL). During his 2011–12 season with the Chargers, Paul scored three goals and provided two assists for a total of five points.

While standing just 5 feet-6 in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL)’s five qualifying drafts, Paul has scored four goals and 25 points in 37 games. Despite not joining the OHL during his first year of qualifying, Paul was subsequently selected by Brampton Battalion as an average player.

After his first season with Battalion, where he scored 12 goals and 28 points, Paul was selected 101st by the Dallas Stars in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

Paul signed with Ottawa and made his professional debut with their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Binghamton Senators in the 2014–15 season. He finished with six goals and 11 assists in 45 games against Binghamton.

Paul was also assigned to Binghamton by Ottawa during the 2015-16 season. Paul was called up in February 2016 and made his NHL debut on February 16, 2016, against the Buffalo Sabers. In a 4–1 win over Edmonton Oilers he scored his first NHL goal on 24 February 2016.
In July 2018, Paul signed a one-year contract with the Battalions. A year later, Paul re-signed with Battalionc for another season.
On March 20, 2022, just one day before the trade deadline, Paul was traded by Ottawa to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Mathieu Joseph within 4 years 2024.
As a Canadian citizen, Paul has represented his home country at the junior and senior levels on two occasions.

His first tournament with the Canada national ice hockey team was in the 2015 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. He finished the tournament with three goals in seven games to help Canada win the gold medal.
A second time Paul was selected to represent Canada at a higher level for the 2021 IIHF World Championships. Once again Paul brilliantly scored in the first extra time in the gold medal match against Finland to brought Canada its 21st gold medal of all time.
